The Tyne brand is a well-known household brand, with over 100 years of heritage. The brand was introduced in Tyneside at North Shields in 1903. The brand started off with a range of canned fish products - famous Tyne herrings were sold all over the world. Then during World War I and World War II the brand expanded its range of products to include canned meats. In 2003 Westlers re-launched Tyne with a range of canned ready meals that built upon the tradition of the brand while updating its image and range to reflect the changing needs of consumers. Since taking over the Tyne Brand, Westlers has continued to develop the brand and stimulate the market with new and exciting products.
